With the new year in full swing, I’ve been keeping an eye on the 2024 home decorating trends and design styles to share with you. I love taking a look at each year’s interior design trends — especially the ones I think will last for many years to come. And, happily, most of the trends and decor ideas on this list should stand the test of time, making them easier to incorporate in your home.
Before we get into the interior design trends for 2024, as always, I recommend decorating your home in a way that makes you feel wonderful.
So please don’t feel like you have to adopt these ideas if they don’t resonate with you or work with the style of your home. In fact, I don’t think it’s a great idea to jump on every new home trend that comes along.
However, I have found that when I stay up to date with the latest decorating trends, I can often create a fresh look in our home using pieces I already own in new ways.
What are the top home decor trends for 2024?
In 2024, we’re seeing an interesting mix of new and returning trends from the past few years.
Some of the most popular interior design trends for 2024 include quiet luxury, an earthy color palette, natural stone surfaces, organic modern influences, and the use of warmer-toned woods — particularly in furniture design.
Several themes are also appearing for interiors, with “warmth” being one of the keywords for 2024, and you’ll see the concept of a warm aesthetic woven throughout this list.
Rich textures, neutral tones, and understated luxury are in style this year — no matter what decorating style you prefer.
While the decorating trends for 2024 are varied, they all have the potential to bring a sense of beauty, comfort, and style to your home in the coming year.
What furniture is in style for 2024?
For furniture design trends in 2024, we’re still seeing plenty of curvy shapes, sumptuous fabrics, and comfortable seating options.

If you’re purchasing upholstered furniture pieces in 2024, look for timeless fabrics like linen, cotton, performance weaves, leather, or even velvet.
For the past several years we’ve also seen a prevalence of gray and light natural wood furniture finishes; however, in 2024 we’ll see a return of warm wood finishes throughout the home — not just in furniture, but in cabinetry, flooring, and wall treatments, as well.
Is farmhouse style out for 2024?
While modern farmhouse style is still around, in 2024 this style will continue to mature into a more sophisticated aesthetic, borrowing aspects from modern cottage, Belgian farmhouse, organic modern, and California casual styles.
With its warm color palette, organic touches, natural stone elements, and understated elegance, this beautiful kitchen is a great example of what modern farmhouse style is looking like in 2024.
With the addition of luxurious textures, curvy shapes, natural elements, and an interesting mix of vintage and modern pieces, the elevated version of modern farmhouse style shows no signs of going away in the coming year.
What interior design styles are trending for 2024?
In 2024 and beyond, interior design styles are increasingly becoming more about personal expression.
Rather than certain decorating styles growing or declining in popularity, the lines between different design styles are blurring.
As you scroll through this year’s trends, you’ll see an interesting mix of styles and perspectives, including coastal, Mediterranean, organic modern, traditional, California casual, and more.
With many different decorating styles on trend in 2024, this means you’re free to create your own look, resulting in a more personal approach to interior design and home decor.
2024 Home Decor Trends and Design Ideas
Below are my predictions for the trends in home decor and interior design styles for 2024, including kitchen design trends, living room decor trends, color trends, and a look ahead at seasonal decorating trends.
As you’ll see, most of these ideas would work well in just about any room in the house — and with just about any decorating style — making them easy to adapt to your home and lifestyle.
1. Quiet luxury
The quiet luxury trend involves creating spaces that feel sumptuous, sophisticated, and timeless — however that looks for you.
A quiet luxury style space will typically include neutral hues, sumptuous fabrics, warm woods, and other elements that reflect a relaxed, pared-back, elevated way of living and decorating.
The key to a quiet luxury style space is mastering the mix of timeless elegance and modern simplicity, creating a space that’s equally welcoming and sophisticated, incorporating natural elements, layered fabrics, and textures.
from my post on Restoration Hardware Style
Luxurious living and an elevated mindset are where things are headed in the coming year, and you’ll see that idea reflected throughout all the trends on this list.
The Cabinet Gallery Utah – Cambridge Home Co. – island lighting
A quiet luxury space isn’t necessarily fancy or expensive — this trend is more about refinement and an appreciation for living well.
Quiet luxury style rooms are filled with warmth, collected accents, plush seating, soft rugs, layered lighting, and pillows and throws in luxurious materials.
No matter how you define it, quiet luxury reflects a calm simplicity that’s both approachable and aspirational, making it a decorating style just about anyone can appreciate and adopt.

You can easily add quiet luxury touches to your home through thoughtful details such as wallpaper, sumptuous throws, scented candles, and lighting.

2. A warm color palette
Tying in with the other 2024 home decor trends, a warm color palette will dominate in the coming year.
Based on calming neutrals, a warm color palette brings a comforting, grounded feeling to our homes that will resonate with our lifestyles in 2024 and beyond.
Warm beiges, browns, camels, and cream colors will be everywhere in 2024 interiors.
For a timeless look, I love soft neutral tones, as they promote a calm, elegant feeling in any space.
However, a warm color palette doesn’t have to mean all-beige everything. Earth tones and nature-inspired hues like muted greens and blues will continue to appear in 2024 interiors, from wall colors to kitchen cabinetry to pillows.
See my post, Color of the Year 2024 + Top Home Color Trends, for more on the current color trends.
3. Organic modern decor
Organic modern (also called modern organic) style is a great way to add a contemporary and cohesive look to any space.
Its light, warm color palette, breezy aesthetic, and comfortable, relaxed attitude makes modern organic style a great choice for 2024 interiors.
A modern organic space typically incorporates the colors and textures of nature, including natural wood furniture, baskets, natural fiber rugs, woven elements, and easy-care textiles like cotton and linen.
A mix of warm woods, white, and black are prevalent in 2024 kitchen trends, as shown in this beautiful organic modern kitchen design.

In an organic modern living space, you’ll often see curved furniture, a color palette inspired by nature, and organic elements –all of which convey a relaxed, comfortable approach to living and decorating.
For an organic modern look, I suggest beginning with a background of white walls and adding in furniture and window coverings in fabrics like cotton and linen in soft neutral hues.

Then, layer in some natural materials, including lots of baskets, light woods, and lovely textures through rugs, throw pillows, and throw blankets.
For ideas and inspiration, you might want to take a look at sites like McGee & Co., Lulu and Georgia, Serena & Lily, Dear Keaton, and Pottery Barn, all of which beautifully convey what organic modern decor is looking like in 2024.

4. Natural materials
In keeping with the other 2024 home decor trends, in the coming year we’ll continue see a focus on natural materials in home furnishings, textiles, rugs, lighting, and decor.
Over the past couple of years we’ve seen the use of natural materials in home decor grow to the point where it’s probably no longer a trend but an essential design element in any space.
To bring the natural look to your home, focus on adding more real elements to your spaces.
Consider bringing in warm wood furniture and cabinetry and accent your spaces with natural textiles and rugs crafted in wool, jute, silk, or textured cotton to add warmth and depth.

5. Warm minimalism
For the last few years, interior designers have embraced warm minimalism as a way to create a calming aesthetic in the home, and in 2024 this trend looks to become more popular than ever.

Warm minimalism enhances the livability of a space by reducing visual clutter, emphasizing calming earth tones, and highlighting the main purpose of a room, making it easier to focus and relax.

6. Natural stone finishes
Natural stone finishes are having a big moment right now — particularly materials that incorporate warm tones and interesting patterns, and this trend will continue well into 2024.
Studio McGee – chair and ottoman
As a part of the quiet luxury and modern cottage style trends, we’re also seeing marble elements making their way back to the design world.
As nature’s art, the use of marble is a timeless interior design trend, and I happen to think you can never go wrong by adding a touch of marble to a space.
Other than marble, some of the most popular natural stone elements include travertine, granite, soapstone, quartzite, limestone, slate, basalt, and other natural materials.
Remember, there’s a certain charm and patina that comes with use of natural stone surfaces, so don’t be afraid of the scratches, dings, and stains that are an inevitable part of having natural stone surfaces in your home.
Some ways to incorporate the natural stone trend in your home include stone coffee tables, countertops, backsplashes, flooring, handcrafted ceramics and pottery, artisanal clay vases, and stoneware.
Shimmering zellige tile is also having a moment in kitchen and bathroom applications. Zellige tiles are handcrafted from clay, and each one is unique, retaining variations in shimmer, depth and color tone, making them popular with interior designers.
7. Curves
In 2024, we’ll continue to see lots of rounded furniture, including curved sofas, barrel chairs, sloped arms, rounded corners, drum tables, and round ottomans.
Curved accent pieces, such as mirrors, lamps, and decorative accessories, are an easy way to bring this trend to your home.

Curves and arches are proving to be a stylish and elegant addition to any style of home, adding a sense of softness and femininity to every space.
We’re also see lots of curved architectural elements in the home for 2024, including arched doorways, curved bar designs and curved kitchen cabinets and countertops.

Places like Arhaus, Lulu and Georgia, Crate and Barrel, and Anthropologie are great sources for curved furniture and accent pieces.
8. Texture
If you ever feel like something is missing from a space, I suggest bringing in some texture!
Soft fabrics not only feel amazing but look chic and luxurious.
In addition to woven textures like jute, rattan, and wicker, textured fabrics like velvet, boucle, linen, suede, and wool are continuing to trend for 2024.
And, with places like Target and TJ Maxx offering an assortment of textured chairs, pillows, and throws, this is a trend that’s not only chic but budget-friendly!
9. Mixed metal finishes
In 2024, expect designers and homeowners alike to embrace a combination of different metal finishes for bathroom and kitchen fixtures and hardware.
Several years ago when our current home was being built, we chose one metal finish for every single metal surface in the house: the light fixtures, faucets, cabinet pulls, towel racks — even the door knobs and hinges — were all brushed nickel. Thankfully, gone are the days of using one metal finish everywhere in your home.

Rather, it’s now very common to mix and match metal finishes – not only in the kitchen and bathroom — but throughout the home on surfaces like doorknobs, curtain rods, light fixtures, hinges, and more.
Whether you’re going for a modern, timeless, contemporary, or classic look, mixing metals is a great way to add visual interest to your home and is a look that will last into 2024 and beyond.

10. Modern cottage style
The modern cottage interior design trend popped up last year and will continue to grow in popularity in 2024, due to its approachable mix of European charm and modern elements.
Incorporating a blending of English country cottage style, colonial chic interior design, modern farmhouse, and Nancy Meyers style interiors, the modern cottage aesthetic is all about a relaxed, elevated approach to interior decorating that anyone can embrace.
Jean Stoffer Interior Design – wall sconces
In modern cottage style interiors, you might find vintage pieces, marble countertops, wall moldings, modern lighting and artwork, brass or polished nickel metal finishes, and natural stone flooring — all of which speak to a comfortable, yet intentional way of living and decorating.
The Cabinet Gallery Utah – Cambridge Home Co. – kitchen island lighting
Places like Serena & Lily, Stoffer Home, McGee & Co., and Arhaus are great places to find modern cottage style decor and furniture.
With each new year comes an opportunity to rethink our spaces and create more style, beauty, and comfort in our homes. And it’s my hope that by sharing these trends and ideas it will make decorating your spaces a bit easier.
Whether your preferred interior design style is modern coastal, California casual, transitional, or something in between, I hope you found some helpful inspiration, guidance on current trends, and practical ideas for enhancing your home throughout 2024.

January 11, 2024 at 8:27 amI recently remodeled/redecorated my French Normandy home using my strong intuition and fav colors of soft pinks, teals, greens and white. EVERY room was rewallpapered, new handcrafted backsplash in teal mermaid tail tile is smashing with my almond wraparound, tall cabinets. I switched out for Etsy ceramic pulls in pink, gold and ivory. An oversized Anthro sofa anchors a dinette table with light green velvet chairs, a distressed walnut pie shaped island has blush velvet stools. In my living room a peacock velvet sofa faces a CURVED Anthro sofa with Bergere chairs are angled to fireplace, in soft pink, white and teal. In my berm, I choose watercolored magnolia wallpaper in pinks/greens w/ lace/rose border, chandeliers in every room. I have Mackenzie reindeer everywhere. Romantic, glam, maximalist, elegant, whimsical ME! I get raves and entertain a lot more.
