Summer is here, complete with a fresh new crop of home decor trends! From the return of color to a breezy coastal vibe, there’s a little something for everyone this season.
If you’d like to update your home with a fresh look for the warmer months, in today’s post I’m taking a look at the summer 2025 decor trends, focusing on the looks I think will have staying power well beyond the season.
Please don’t feel like you have to embrace these ideas if they don’t resonate with you or work with your home style. I definitely don’t adopt every new home decor trend that comes along.
That said, I do think it’s helpful to keep up with the current decorating trends and design styles, because it gives you new ideas for your home.
I know when I look at our home with a fresh perspective, I’m often able to repurpose pieces I already own and update a space without spending any money.
Whether you want to add a light touch of summer here and there or fully embrace the season, I hope the summer decor trends and ideas in this post will help you refresh your home inside and out.
Summer Decor Trends and Design Ideas for 2025
1. Coastal style
The first summer decor trend for 2025 is relaxed coastal style. With a focus on light and airy spaces that reflect the ocean and beach, coastal style interiors are a perfect fit for summer.
I’ve found that since I started decorating with modern coastal style, our home is essentially summery all year long, which means I don’t have to do a lot of seasonal decorating.
By sticking with a color scheme that reflects the ocean, sand, and sky: crisp whites, neutral hues, and fresh blues — everything flows easily from one season to the next.
Coastal style spaces typically incorporate natural elements such as wood, wicker, and linen, as well as a color palette of soft blues, greens, and sandy tones.
Coastal style interiors often feature clean lines and simple yet elegant design, with a focus on comfort and relaxation.
Although there are many versions of coastal style, my favorite is a chic mix of relaxed beach house, coastal grandmother, and Nancy Meyers style. (Here’s my post sharing my favorite Nancy Meyers interiors.)
However, any version of coastal decor or beach house style which incorporates things like woven elements, light woods, baskets, natural fiber rugs, and easy-care slipcovers in fabrics like cotton and linen, lends itself perfectly to summer decorating.
2. Summer stripes
The next summer 2025 home decor trend, which ties in beautifully with relaxed coastal style, is stripes, a classic summer trend that will never go out of style.

Whether you’re decorating a living room, bedroom, or even the patio, adding striped pillows, throws, or rugs will add timeless style to your home for summer and beyond.
From throw pillows to rugs, incorporating stripes into your decor can instantly add a touch of summer to any room.
Experiment with sizes, shapes, and colors to find the perfect combination that perfectly reflects your personality and your home.
A striped rug, soft neutral tones, and layered bedding create a calm and restful home bedroom refresh.
3. A backdrop of white
The next home decor trend for summer 2025 is white walls.
White walls and ceilings bring a fresh, modern look to any space, creating an open, airy feeling and reflecting natural light to brighten both large and small spaces.

White Dove and Simply White, both by Benjamin Moore, are two of my favorite white paints. We’ve used both throughout our home, including on our kitchen cabinets.

4. Ottomans
The next trend for summer 2025 is one of my favorites: the use of ottomans throughout the home. Ottomans are perfect for summer decorating because they lend a feeling of softness and ease to any space.
I especially love the look of an ottoman in place of a traditional coffee table.
Ottomans offer several advantages over traditional coffee tables. They can be used for extra seating and are easy to move from place to place. Best of all, they allow you to put your feet up and relax!

Ottomans are also lightweight and available in many sizes and styles, allowing you to use them as a stylish and practical feature in any room — even out on the patio!

With the addition of a tray, ottomans are also an efficient way to keep items such as magazines, books, and remote controls organized, yet accessible.
Last, ottomans can provide a warm and inviting atmosphere in the living room, making it a great place to relax, put your feet up, and bask in all the joys of summer.

5. Organic modern decor
Natural elements are everywhere in 2025, and materials like bamboo, jute, and seagrass are making a big comeback this summer.

Whether used in furniture, lighting, or accessories natural materials are a great way to create a calming, relaxed atmosphere in the home for summer.
6. Warm wood elements
The next summer trend, which I believe will last far beyond this season, is warm wood furniture, cabinetry, and accent pieces.
By incorporating warm wood elements in your home for summer, you can instantly update your home and create a beautiful and inviting atmosphere.

And here’s an equally stunning kitchen design featuring dark wood cabinets.
Whether you’re looking to add a touch of luxury to a room, or just want to make your home feel more inviting for summer into fall, warm wood furniture, cabinetry, and accents are a timeless solution.
7. Mixed textures
Mixing textures is a great way to add interest and style to your spaces for summer.
This summer, expect to see a lot of layered textures, such as linen throw blankets, rustic wood elements, woven lighting, and chunky jute rugs.
The different textures of fabric, wood, and natural materials bring life to a space, creating an inviting and unique atmosphere.
Textures can even evoke emotions, helping create a cozy and comforting feeling in a space.
In addition, textures can be used to create a focal point in a room or unify an area, balancing different elements together.
8. Coastal boho style
Bohemian or boho style, in all its forms, is a strong trend for summer 2025, thanks to its textural approach to home decor and design.
Think Moroccan style rugs, macrame wall hangings, woven light fixtures, and lots of plants.

Coastal boho style, coastal cowgirl style, and beach house style are popular versions of bohemian decor.
Incorporating a mix of modern coastal, California casual, and boho style, coastal boho decor is ideal for summer decorating.

This design style embraces a relaxed, comfortable way of living and decorating, making it perfect for summer!
9. Color trend for summer 2025: blue
Tying in beautifully with the rest of summer decor trends for 2025, a color palette based on soothing, timeless blues are making a comeback.
If you saw my post on the Top Home Color Trends for 2025 you know that some version of blue was on almost everyone’s “Color of the Year” list.
Brandon Architects – Patterson Custom Homes
Paint companies and interior designers alike are loving blue hues this season, which is wonderful, as I can’t think of a color that more perfectly reflects the relaxed feeling of summer than blue.
Blue, in all its shades, is perfect for adding a touch of summer to a neutral room, family room, or a more formal space, perhaps via a piece of statement artwork, accent pieces, or rugs.
Since shades of blue have been shown to reduce stress, increase productivity and creativity, and generally make us happier, it’s the perfect color for summer, indoors and out.
By incorporating any of these summer decor trends in your home, you can create a look that reflects the laid-back, carefree spirit of the season.
10. Palm Beach Style
Thanks to the popular Apple TV series Palm Royale, Palm Beach style is making a comeback in the world of home decor and interior design in 2025 — and the new version is better than ever.
Inspired by the luxurious and glamorous lifestyle of Palm Beach, this trend is all about bringing breezy elegance to your home.
Picture crisp whites, bold pops of color, lush tropical prints, and of course plenty of rattan and bamboo accents, making this style perfect for summer.
From statement chandeliers to plush velvet sofas in vibrant hues, Palm Beach style is all about embracing chic opulence with a laid-back twist.
With its mix of old-school glamor and modern sophistication, it’s no wonder the Palm Beach look is making a comeback.
If you’d like to bring a touch of colorful coastal charm to your home, you might want to give the Palm Beach trend a try.
While trends are a great starting point, it’s important to choose an aesthetic and style that speaks to you. So take these summer decor trends as inspiration and make them your own.
