Summer will soon be here, along with a beautiful new gathering of home decor ideas and trends! From indoor-outdoor living to a breezy coastal aesthetic, there’s a little something for everyone to love about this season.
If you’d like to update your home with a fresh look for the warmer months, in today’s post I’m taking a look at 10 summer 2026 decor ideas and trends, focusing on the looks I think will have staying power well beyond the season.
As always, please don’t feel like you have to embrace seasonal decor trends and ideas if they don’t resonate with you or work with your home style. I definitely don’t adopt every new home decor trend that comes along.

That said, I do think it’s helpful to keep up with seasonal decorating trends and design styles, because it gives you new ideas for your home as you go forward.
I know that when I look at our home with a fresh perspective, I’m often able to use pieces I already own and update a space without spending any money.
Whether you want to add a light touch of summer decor here and there or fully embrace the season, I hope these summer decorating ideas and trends will help you refresh your home, inside and out.
2026 Summer Decor Ideas and Trends
1. Coastal Style
Relaxed coastal style is perfect for summer — and is wildly popular right now, along with related aesthetics like beach house style, Hamptons style, California casual style, East Coast summer style, and Nancy Meyers interiors.
With a focus on light and airy spaces that reflect the ocean and beach, coastal style interiors are a perfect fit for summer.
I’ve found that since I started decorating with modern coastal style, our home is essentially summery all year long, which means I don’t have to do a lot of seasonal decorating.
By sticking with a color scheme that reflects the ocean, sand, and sky: crisp whites, neutral hues, and fresh blues — everything flows easily from one season to the next.
Coastal style spaces typically incorporate natural elements such as wood, wicker, and linen, as well as a color palette of soft blues, greens, and sandy tones.
Coastal style interiors often feature clean lines and simple yet elegant design, with a focus on comfort and relaxation.
Although there are many versions of coastal style, my favorite is a chic mix of relaxed beach house, coastal grandmother, and Nancy Meyers style. (Here’s my post sharing my favorite Nancy Meyers interiors.)
However, any version of coastal decor or beach house style which incorporates things like woven elements, light woods, baskets, natural fiber rugs, and easy-care slipcovers in fabrics like cotton and linen, lends itself perfectly to summer decorating.
A grouping of two or three tall planters next to the front door — especially when filled with green plants — brings coastal cottage charm to your porch or patio.
2. Summer Stripes
The next summer 2026 home decor trend, which ties in beautifully with relaxed coastal style, is stripes, a classic summer trend that will never go out of style.
This beautiful bedroom incorporates soft summer stripes in the pillow shams and duvet cover.

Whether you’re decorating a living room, bedroom, or even the patio, adding striped pillows, throws, or rugs will add timeless style to your home for summer and beyond.
From throw pillows to rugs, incorporating stripes into your decor can instantly add a touch of summer to any space, including outdoor spaces.
Experiment with sizes, shapes, and colors to find the perfect combination that perfectly reflects your personality and your home.
A striped rug, soft neutral tones, and layered bedding help create a calm and restful home bedroom refresh.
3. Blue: the Perfect Summer Color

Tying in beautifully with the rest of summer decor trends for 2026, a color palette based on soothing, timeless blues are making a comeback.
If you saw my post on the Top Home Color Trends for 2026, you know that some version of blue was on almost everyone’s “Color of the Year” list.
Brandon Architects – Patterson Custom Homes
Interior designers and homeowners are loving blue hues this season, and I can’t think of a color that more perfectly reflects the relaxed feeling of summer than blue.

The color blue, in all its shades, is perfect for adding a touch of summer to a bedroom, family room, kitchen, bathroom, or entryway, perhaps via a piece of statement artwork, accent pieces, bedding, or rugs.

Blue has been shown to reduce stress, increase productivity and creativity, and generally make us happier, making it the perfect color for summer, indoors and out.
By incorporating blue decor in your home for summer, you can create a look that reflects the laid-back, carefree spirit of the season.
Although, in our home, blue is in style all year round!

4. A Backdrop of White
A light and airy backdrop of white walls, ceilings, and window coverings provides the perfect canvas for summer decorating.
White walls and ceilings bring a fresh, modern look to any space, creating an open, airy feeling and reflecting natural light to brighten both large and small spaces.

A light neutral wall is the perfect backdrop for colorful pieces of furniture or artwork, making it easy to redecorate as the seasons — or your tastes — change.
This beautiful bedroom features a woven bed, rattan nightstand, black chandelier, and lovely soft tones of blue and blush against a backdrop of crisp white walls.
I love the elegant mix of warm white and polished brass pendant lights in this timeless kitchen design:

5. Ottomans
The next summer trend is one of my favorites: ottomans. Ottomans are perfect for summer decorating because they lend a feeling of laidback ease to any space.
I especially love the look of an ottoman in place of a traditional coffee table.
Ottomans offer several advantages over traditional coffee tables. They can be used for extra seating and are easy to move from place to place. Best of all, they allow you to put your feet up and relax!

Ottomans are also lightweight and available in many sizes and styles, allowing you to use them as a stylish and practical feature in any room
With the addition of a tray, ottomans are also an efficient way to keep items such as magazines, books, and remote controls organized, yet accessible.
Last, ottomans can provide a warm and inviting atmosphere in the living room, making it a great place to relax, put your feet up, and bask in all the joys of summer.

7. Warm Wood Finishes
The next summer trend, which I believe will last far beyond this season, is warm wood furniture, cabinetry, and accent pieces.
By incorporating warm wood elements in your home for summer, you can instantly update your home and create a beautiful and inviting atmosphere.

Whether you’re looking to add a touch of luxury to a room, or just want to make your home feel more inviting for summer into fall, warm wood furniture, cabinetry, and accents are a timeless solution.
8. Layered Textures
Mixing various textures is a great way to add interest and style to your spaces for summer.
In summer 2026, you can expect to see rooms featuring layered textures, such as linen throw blankets, rustic wood elements, woven lighting, and chunky jute rugs.
The different textures of fabric, wood, and natural materials bring life to a space, creating an inviting and unique atmosphere.
Textures can even evoke emotions, helping create a cozy and comforting feeling in a space.
In addition, textures can be used to create a focal point in a space or unify an area, balancing different elements together.
9. Beach House Style
Beach house style, in all its forms, is a strong trend for summer 2026, thanks to its textural approach to home decor and design.
Think textured rugs, wall hangings, woven light fixtures, and lots of plants.
Coastal cottage style, East Coast summer, coastal cowgirl style, boho beach decor, and Hamptons style are popular variations of the beach house aesthetic.
Incorporating a mix of modern coastal and California casual styles, beach house decor is ideal for summer decorating.
Pure Salt Interiors – console table
Modern beach house decor and interiors might include comfortable cotton and linen furniture, neutral hues, chunky knit throw blankets, faded denim blues, leather accents, rustic wood furniture and beams, and an abundance of natural textural elements.

10. Indoor-Outdoor Living
Indoor – outdoor living has always been a summer staple; however, in 2026 it’s become more popular than ever, with homeowners opting to enjoy luxurious staycations in their own backyards rather than traveling.
Imagine crisp whites, bold pops of color, lush landscaping, and of course plenty of rattan and bamboo accents, making this style perfect for summer.
