There’s something about Hamptons style interiors that feels effortlessly luxurious yet completely inviting — I’ve always been drawn to their beautiful blend of relaxed coastal charm and refined elegance.
With that in mind, I’m excited to share some of my favorite elements of Hamptons style — plus a few simple tips for bringing a touch of this timeless East Coast aesthetic to your home in 2026.

First, What Is Hamptons Style?
Hamptons style interiors are inspired by the upscale beach homes of the Hamptons — a stunning stretch of East Coast towns along Long Island, New York’s shores.
Known for their light, airy feel, classic architecture, and understated luxury, Hamptons homes beautifully balance coastal casualness with sophisticated polish.
I fell in love with Hamptons style interiors when I saw the Nancy Meyers movie, Something’s Gotta Give.
Even though I loved everything about that movie, it was the chic Hamptons beach house belonging to the lead character, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), that captured my heart!

A few features of Hamptons house interiors:
- Crisp white walls and trim
- Soft neutral and coastal color palettes (think soft sea blues, sandy beiges, and shades of warm white)
- Natural textures like linen, rattan, wicker, and wood
- Elegant lighting, often with a nod to traditional or nautical styles
- Large, welcoming kitchens — often featuring white cabinetry, marble countertops, and oversized pendant lights in polished nickel, rubbed bronze, or warm brass tones
- Cozy yet refined living spaces filled with plush sofas, relaxed linen slipcovers, and luxurious layered rugs
- A focus on symmetry, balance, and proportion throughout the home

Elements of Hamptons Style Interiors
1. A Soft Coastal Color Palette
To create the look of Hamptons interiors, start with a base of whites, creams, and gentle grays.

Then layer in some coastal blues, seafoam greens, and soft sandy hues for a serene, timeless look.

2. Elegant, Understated Furniture
Opt for classic pieces with clean lines and deep cushions — not only do they feel luxurious, they invite comfort, relaxation, and conversation.

Slipcovered sofas, weathered wood tables, and wicker or rattan accents bring an approachable coastal vibe to your home without sacrificing style.
Look for affordable slipcovers, secondhand finds, or vintage-look furniture to achieve this look without designer prices.

3. Natural Materials and Textures
Woven baskets, linen throw pillows or curtains, jute rugs, and rattan chairs add the texture and depth that Hamptons homes are known for.
And you don’t need to redo an entire room — even adding some thoughtful countertop styling, a touch of chinoiserie, or a striped rug can work wonders!

4. Sophisticated Coastal Decor
Think coral sculptures, seashell collections, large glass hurricane lanterns, blue-and-white ginger jars, and elegant coastal art.

Hamptons style is all about refined beachy, not kitschy, decor.
Remember, less is more. A few well-placed pieces will feel luxurious without feeling cluttered.
Add an upholstered headboard with clean lines for a refined touch, and bring in coastal elements like wood nightstands or woven accents to keep the look grounded.
