Summer is the perfect time to lighten up your home — both in look and spirit. Inspired by nature’s airy palette and easy textures, I love bringing the outdoors in to create spaces that feel like a personal vacation retreat. With that in mind, today I’m sharing a few easy summer decorating ideas for just about every space in your home.
Whether you want to add a light touch of the season here and there or try out an entirely new look for summer 2025, these simple decor ideas and tips will help you add a modern summery look and feeling to your living room, bedroom, kitchen, entryway, porch, and patio.
Easy, Breezy Summer Decorating Ideas for 2025
1. Let white shine
Why it works:
A crisp white canvas reflects light, instantly feels fresh, and pairs beautifully with natural textures.
How to do it:
Use Benjamin Moore White Dove or Simply White on walls, add white slipcovers (easy to throw in the wash), and layer textures — wicker, linen, light jute and sisal rugs — for depth.
See our kitchen renovation details, including how we painted our cabinets in Benjamin Moore White Dove, in this post.
2. Coastal Comfort: a Summery Beach House Vibe
Summer mood to aim for:
Clean, relaxed, with soft blues and breezy fabrics.

Budget-friendly swaps:
Easy-care natural fiber rugs, slipcovered sofas, and washable cushions keep things fresh without breaking the bank.

3. Color Pops Where it Counts
Fresh flowers:
Fresh blooms in summer shades — such as peonies, lilacs, or hydrangeas — bring life and a natural scent that energizes any space.
This year, our peony bushes produced so many blooms, I have a few on just about every surface in the house!
I found this beautiful pink hydrangea plant at Lowe’s several weeks ago, and it’s my favorite thing on our patio right now.
Beyond florals:
Try summery table linens and tabletop decor in soft green or terracotta; even minor home accents can brighten up rooms.
4. Treasured Tokens: Summer Vacation Memories
Keep it cozy:
Display a few sea shells from beach trips, framed photo postcards — these nostalgic touches spark stories and memory.
5. Stripes & Patterns for Summer Ease
Why it works:
Simple stripes echo coastal calm; light botanical prints add organic interest.
How to layer:
One striped pillow, one botanical; repeat pattern in rugs or artwork for a cohesive feel.
6. Inside – Outside Flow
Make it seamless:
Bring the same fabrics and colors outside—blue cushions, white tablecloth, woven linens—for a unified indoor-outdoor look.

7. Terrace, Porch or Patio Styling
First impressions count:
Your front porch or patio sets the tone for your entire home — update it for summer with light textiles, potted greenery, and a cozy seating vignette.
8. Trend Alert: Sunwashed Earth Tones
Add soft clay, pale sand, and muted sage as accent colors — perfect for summer 2025’s top color palette.
Blend these summer colors with textures like linen and rattan for grounded elegance.
9. Seasonal Senses: Smells and Scents
Light citrus or herbal (lemon, mint, lavender) scents via simmer pots or essential oil diffusers bring fresh, light scent into your home — and make it feel like summer from the inside out.
10. Easy Low-Cost Summer Refreshes
Summer DIY craft idea:
Make artwork with dried flowers or hang dried lemon or orange slices as sunlight-catching garlands or suncatcher — a simple, pretty, and fun diy summer craft to do with your kids or grandkids.
(This is a holiday themed table, but I think I would work beautifully for summer decorating, too!)

Whether you’re relaxing in the living room or winding down on the porch or patio, the goal for summer decorating is calm, casual, elevated charm — and I hope you found these summer decor ideas helpful and inspiring.
Little summer decor swaps, such as lighter-hued throw pillows, stripes, and nature-inspired scents — along with a few carefully chosen home accents — can bring a big transformation for the warmer months.
Wishing you a beautiful summer! xo Jane
