With its light and breezy aesthetic, ocean-inspired color palette, and relaxed aesthetic, coastal style is the perfect design style for the bedroom. And in today’s post, I’m sharing some gorgeous coastal bedroom decorating ideas for 2025, including coastal master bedrooms, guest room decor, and small bedrooms featuring modern coastal style, places to shop for coastal bedding, furniture, and bedroom decor, and more.
Whether you simply want to know how to decorate with coastal style in the bedroom or make over every room in your home, I hope you find these ideas and tips helpful.
First, what is a coastal bedroom?
A coastal style bedroom room typically incorporates the colors and textures of nature, including lighter-toned woods, baskets, natural fiber rugs, woven elements, and easy-care textiles like cotton and linen.
In a coastal bedroom, you’ll often see white or wood furniture, a light, neutral color palette inspired by the sand and sea, and plenty of natural and organic elements – all of which convey a relaxed way of living and decorating.
Although there are many takes on coastal interior design, my favorite version is modern coastal style, which is light, minimal, and organic, reflecting a mix of relaxed beach house and classic Hamptons styles.

How to create a stylish modern coastal bedroom
Elevated coastal style is all about mastering the mix of traditional and modern coastal styles.
For a coastal look in the bedroom, I suggest beginning with a background of white walls and adding in furniture, bedding, decor, and window coverings in soft fabrics like cotton and linen.
When decorating a coastal-themed bedroom, you don’t necessarily have to use a typical coastal color palette of blue and white.
Rather, consider using shades of the sea, sand, and sunset, such as soft blush tones, muted greens, and warm beige tones.
To bring a modern organic look to your space, layer in some natural materials, including baskets, wood elements, and lovely textures through rugs, throw pillows, and throw blankets.
Since coastal or beach house style is essentially carefree and relaxed, it’s easy to go overboard, so I recommend paring back the beachy themes.
When decorating a coastal bedroom, try to keep busy patterns and sea creature motifs to a minimum, and stick with stripes and subtle patterns on bedding, rugs, and pillows.
You might even want to draw inspiration from high-end hotels and upscale air bnbs you’ve visited.
