The entryway, as the first space people see when they enter your home, deserves more attention than any other room in the house. Your home entrance gives guests a first impression of who you are, what kind of style you like, and your favorite colors. So if you happen to share my love of modern coastal decor, the entryway is the perfect space to add a touch of coastal style, setting the tone for the rest of your home.
With that in mind, today I’m sharing several inspiring coastal style entryway ideas, entryway decor ideas, and tips for making your home entrance look beautiful and welcoming.

Whether you’re designing a brand new home, remodeling, or just want to refresh and update the look of your current entry, I hope this post will give you all sorts of great ideas and inspiration!
The beautiful coastal entryways in this post all convey a different design aesthetic, but each space will give you a clear idea of the style and personality of the rest of the house.
First, what does a coastal entryway look like?
A coastal style entryway is generally light, open, and airy.
Reminiscent of the sea, sand and sky, a modern coastal entryway or foyer might include natural fiber rugs, woven light fixtures, a light wood entry table or console, coastal decor and accent pieces, and a color scheme inspired by nature.
To make a coastal entryway feel cohesive, try to think of it as a glimpse into your home’s personality.
Start with a color, pattern, or style you love, then add in art, accents, and furnishings that bring your foyer to life.
Creating a beautiful coastal entryway simply involves working with the space you have, paying attention to a few basic elements (which I share below), and adding your own unique touch.
In gathering coastal entryway inspiration, you might want to take a look at sites like Serena and Lily, Dear Keaton, or Pottery Barn, all of which beautifully convey what modern coastal style will look like in 2025.

2025 entryway trends
In 2025, expect to see a beautiful mix of new and returning decor trends.
Some popular decor trends for the entryway in 2025 include the use of neutral color palettes, curved and rounded furniture styles, a touch of quiet luxury, organic modern spaces, modern coastal style, California casual influences, and more.
Some of the most popular home entrance trends for 2025 include the use of warm woods, rich color palettes, statement lighting, and curved silhouettes on mirrors, entryway tables, and seating.
Since 2025 home trends are heavily influenced by nature, I recommend adding a few natural elements to your coastal entryway, such as wood furniture, woven lighting, jute or wool rugs, marble or stoneware decor, nature-inspired wall art, a favorite sea shell, or a few fresh branches gathered from your back yard!

Coastal Entryway Ideas and Inspiration for 2025
If you’re looking for ideas for decorating your entryway, as you browse through the modern coastal entryways below, make a mental note of what you love about each space.
Notice whether you’re drawn to the entryway table or cabinet, the lighting, the entryway rug, mirror or artwork, color scheme, wallpaper, or entryway decor. Or perhaps, like me, you’ll find yourself drawn to a little bit of everything!
Whether you prefer a relaxed beach house aesthetic, California casual, or timeless East Coast style, here are a few elements you’ll typically find in a coastal entrance or foyer:
1. Coastal style lighting
Pendant lights and sconces are two easy ways to create a focal point and add coastal style to the entry way.

Many coastal entryway designs also incorporate some type of table lamp or chandelier.

Fabric or woven shades, as well as beaded chandeliers and metal finishes — often in brass or a mix of glass and brass — will be popular in 2025.

2. Natural rugs
Natural fiber rugs create a warm and inviting atmosphere in a coastal or beach house style entrance.
And, if you have tile or wood flooring in your front entryway, a rug can soften the space, add color and texture, and pick up tracked-in dirt.
Dash & Albert makes a great range of easy-care rugs, perfect for the entry.

3. A coastal color palette
When choosing a color palette for a modern coastal entryway, incorporating the colors of the seaside, such as white and off-white, shades of blue, muted greens, corals, beiges, and other neutral tones, creates a cohesive and elevated coastal aesthetic.

4. Wood furniture and accents
Natural wood furniture is a popular choice for modern coastal spaces — especially when paired with white walls, which naturally create a light and airy atmosphere.

Wood beams are another way to bring a natural, California coastal look to the entryway.
5. Coastal wall art and mirrors
Whether you’re designing a coastal, beach house, or Hamptons style entryway, the wall art and mirrors you select should complement the overall look of the space.
This lovely light-filled entryway features a stunning light wood console and twin wall mirrors.
When choosing foyer artwork and decor, add in the colors, patterns, or styles you love and that reflect your personality.

6. Coastal entryway decor
Adding beach-inspired decor to your entryway will create a fresh look in your space.
Tall and/or lidded baskets are a wonderful way to add a touch of coastal style, while providing storage for umbrellas, shoes, dog leashes, and more.

7. An open, airy feeling
Creating open spaces with abundant natural and ambient light is an important element in modern coastal interior design — especially in entryways, which can often feel dark and under-lit.
Since the front entrance sets the tone for the rest of your home, try to keep it bright, well-lit and clutter-free so visitors aren’t tripping over things as they come in.

If you’re planning a home remodel or renovation, you might even consider adding more windows or removing unnecessary walls to create a more open and airy feeling in your home entrance.
Architectural details, such as wall molding, shiplap, and coffered ceilings, bring interest, depth, and character to a coastal themed entryway.

If you don’t have sufficient overhead lighting, you can always use table lamps and sconces, which add beautiful ambiance to the entryway.
See my lighting post for more lighting ideas and sources.
8. A spot to sit
Another thing I love to include in any foyer is some type of seating so guests can sit while they remove their shoes or boots.
Folding stools or upholstered cubes, like the ones shown above and below, provide the perfect seating solution in a small entryway or modern foyer design.
As a bonus, by making it easy for your guests to take off their shoes when they arrive, your floors will stay cleaner!

I’m sure it’s clear by now that I love coastal style — especially in the entry!
In my opinion, adding a touch of modern coastal style to your entryway is one of the best ways to create a stylish, timeless aesthetic in your home.
