Our Coastal Bedroom Summer Refresh

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know I love to change the look of our home pretty often. Let’s just say my idea of an exciting time is switching out throw pillows!  I’ve found that even the smallest adjustments can change the look and feel of an entire room.  Today, I’m sharing how I refreshed our bedroom for summer with a few simple updates, including beautiful new bedding and modern coastal accents and decor from Serena & Lily.

Coastal Bedroom Summer Refresh

Our bedroom is my place to retreat and recharge.

I love keeping a light and serene look for our bedroom incorporating soothing blues and whites. Especially in summer, the lighter tones make the room feel cool and crisp, even on sweltering days!

To me, nothing feels as fresh and inviting as an all-white bed for promoting a feeling of calm and light, so when we updated our bedding I chose to keep an all-white duvet and shams.  You can catch a glimpse of the beautiful, subtle pattern above in the pillow shams.

The pattern on the sheets is the same as on the duvet and shams, but the beautiful French blue really makes them stand out against the white bedding!

I also added in some extra pops of blue through the pillows, throw, and rug.

I love the tassels on this pillow, and how the tassels are a different shade of blue, with a pretty gold accent.

The lumbar pillow has a dip-dye effect, which I think brings a more casual look to the space. Even though I want our bedroom to feel clean and crisp, I don’t want it to seem formal or stuffy!

I’ve had my eye on this beautiful indigo tasseled throw for a long time.  It’s amazingly soft–and the pattern goes with everything.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing it all around our house!

I always love a pop of gold with blue and white, and these side lamps add the perfect metallic touch without going overboard or taking up too much space on our night stands.

Recently, we added a new king-size bed to this space.  We’ve always had a queen or “olympic queen” bed, so this was a big change for us!  Honestly, I kind of miss the togetherness of our old bed, but I’m sure I’ll eventually grow to love a king.

Another change we recently made was painting our formerly-brown nightstands white and adding new hardware.  Once we got the new bed, I just didn’t like how the brown looked next to the grey fabric of the bed.

It was one of those domino-effect things, where one change led to another .. and another!  The new paint job is just an interim fix while I search for the perfect nightstands.  Sometimes it takes me forever to decide on the right pieces for our home! (As I shared in my coffee table post.)

With our new bedding, some coastal artwork, and the other changes we’ve made in here, this space feels fresh and new, and I love the calm feeling I get when I walk in the room.

That said, I’m still not finished with this space.  But one step at a time.  Our home is a work in progress, and I’m appreciating each step along the way!

Thanks for coming along on my bedroom tour, and thank you to Serena & Lily for working with me on finding the perfect bedding for my summer refresh!

Thank you so much Vanessa! I bought it locally a couple of years ago–but I’ve seen similar ones at Home Goods, TJ Maxx and Ross! I hope this helps! xo jane
