2025 Bathroom Trends
2025 bathroom trends are all about natural materials, including wood vanity cabinets and woven lighting, so I recommend adding a few natural elements to your blue bathroom design, as well as some interesting textures via rugs, towels, decor, mirrors, window coverings, and light fixtures.
Mixed metal finishes are also extremely popular in bathroom design this year, with beautiful faucets, mirrors, and hardware in gleaming finishes and streamlined silhouettes taking center stage as the jewelry of the bathroom.

Popular paint colors for blue bathrooms
Choosing the right shade of blue is key to setting the tone for your bathroom. Below are some of my favorite blue paint colors for bathroom cabinets, vanities, and walls.
Whether you’re leaning toward a classic navy or a light coastal blue, these shades bring personality to your space and set the foundation for the rest of your bathroom design.
See my post, Color of the Year 2025 + Top Home Color Trends, for more on current paint color trends and shades of blue that work well in the bathroom.
1. Sherwin-Williams Naval
This deep navy exudes elegance and looks stunning with white countertops and gold accents.

2. Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
Benjamin Moore Hale Navy is a classic color that pairs beautifully with white accents and brass fixtures.
I love the beautiful styling, separate sinks, and navy blue vanity cabinet color in this coastal master bathroom from Mindy Gayer Design.
3. Behr Blueprint
Blueprint (which was Behr’s Color of the Year a few years ago) is an optimistic steel blue, somewhere between denim and navy.
A mid-tone blue that feels modern yet timeless, this shade is perfect if you want to add a contemporary look to your bathroom.
4. Sherwin-Williams Tradewind
Sherwin-Williams Tradewind is a light, breezy blue with undercurrents of green.
Evoking the serenity of the sea, Tradewind is ideal for coastal-themed bathrooms.
5. Farrow & Ball Oval Room Blue
For a soft, vintage look, Oval Room Blue has a calming, understated presence.
Metal Finishes that Complement Blue Bathroom Cabinets
Once you’ve picked your paint color, it’s time to think about metal finishes. The right hardware can elevate your blue bathroom cabinets or walls and tie the whole design together.
Below are metal finishes that beautifully complement blue cabinetry and walls. Each finish gives your bathroom a unique personality, so consider how it will play into the overall style you’re aiming for.
1. Brushed brass or gold
For a sophisticated, high-end feel, brushed gold and brass metal finishes add warmth and a touch of luxury to a space, especially when paired with navy or darker blues.
These arched brass mirrors add a feminine touch and help soften the straight edges and angles typically found in a bathroom. From Rehabitat Interiors.
2. Polished chrome
If you prefer a sleek, modern look, polished chrome offers a crisp contrast to blue cabinetry, especially with lighter blue shades.
3. Matte black
For a bold, contemporary edge, matte black hardware or faucets make a dramatic statement against mid- to deep-blue cabinets.

4. Polished nickel
Polished nickel fixtures have a deeper, warmer tone than chrome and brushed nickel and are considered more high-end, making them a bit pricier.
5. Brushed nickel
This versatile finish works well with almost any shade of blue, offering a subtle elegance that won’t overpower the color.

Bathroom Decor, Lighting, Mirrors, and Tile to Complement Blue Cabinets
To pull your blue bathroom design together, it’s essential to think beyond the cabinetry. Here are a few ideas and tips for decorating a blue bathroom.
1. Lighting
Add sconces or a chandelier in a metal finish that matches your hardware for a cohesive look.
Consider placing sconces on either side of mirrors for flattering, even lighting.

2. Mirrors
Vanity mirrors are available in different sizes and styles, from large round mirrors to rectangular to oval and modern asymmetrical shapes.
A round or oval mirror adds softness and balance to the angular lines of cabinetry, while a rectangular or arched mirror with a gold or black frame can make a bold design statement.

3. Tile
Pair your blue cabinetry with classic white subway tile for a timeless look, or consider going bold with patterned floor tiles in complementary hues.

Marble or white tiles create an elegant backdrop that allows the blue to take center stage.
4. Bathroom decor
Keep your bathroom decor minimal yet purposeful. A vase of fresh greenery, a few neatly folded towels, and a small piece of artwork can complete the look without overwhelming the space.
The first thing you notice about this stylish powder bath is the amazing wallpaper. But the remaining elements, including the sconces, arched window, and tile floor are just as striking.

Blue Coastal Bathroom Ideas
If you’re dreaming of a breezy, coastal-inspired bathroom, blue cabinetry and/or walls are the perfect choice.
Blue is naturally associated with the sea and sky, making it an ideal color to evoke a relaxed, calming atmosphere.
Here are some ideas and tips for designing a stunning coastal-style bathroom incorporating blue.
1. Choose light, airy blues
For a true coastal vibe, lighter shades of blue work beautifully.
Consider colors like Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt or Behr Light Blue Gray. These soft hues create a fresh, airy feeling reminiscent of a day at the beach.

2. Incorporate natural materials
Coastal style is all about blending natural elements, so pair your blue cabinets with organic textures.
Think rattan baskets, wood mirrors, or woven rugs. These natural accents will enhance the relaxed, serene feeling of your space.

For a modern beach house look, consider adding natural textures like a woven basket or teak stool for a relaxed vibe.

3. Add white or neutral countertops
To keep the space feeling light and open, opt for white quartz or marble countertops.
These materials offer a clean, bright surface that complements soft blue cabinets beautifully.
4. Keep the coastal decor subtle
Incorporate subtle coastal-inspired decor without going overboard. Striped hand towels and nautical-themed wall art are always a great idea in a coastal bathroom design.
A light, airy shower curtain in white or soft blue can also add a touch of coastal charm to your space.
5. Consider a shiplap or beadboard wall treatment
For that quintessential coastal touch, consider adding shiplap or beadboard to your bathroom walls or ceilings.
Wall treatments add character and dimension, while also enhancing the coastal vibe.
6. Bright, natural lighting
Coastal bathrooms are known for their bright, sun-soaked atmosphere, so focus on maximizing natural light.
Julie Howard for Timber Trails DC
If you have windows, keep them free of heavy treatments, opting for bamboo or light-colored fabric shades instead.
For artificial lighting, opt for light fixtures in woven natural finishes, chrome, or brushed brass or bronze to maintain the coastal look.
By blending soft blue cabinets with coastal accents and natural elements, you’ll achieve that serene, breezy atmosphere that makes modern coastal style bathrooms so inviting.
